CITY OF LAKE SHORE - FT POLICE OFFICER
The City of Lake Shore located in the heart of the Brainerd Lakes Area, enjoys the support of elected officials and a community that loves its police! The city has an opening for the position of Full-Time Police Officer. This position works under the general supervision of the Chief of Police, this position performs responsible police work involving the protection and safety of the community, responding to calls for service, preventing and controlling crime, preserving peace, regulating traffic, and providing emergency services. The City of Lake Shore offers a very generous benefit package including fully paid single and family medical premiums. The 2025 pay range is $50,944.40-$78,374.40.
Essential Functions:
Enforces traffic laws and directs traffic in traffic control situations
Responds to emergency medical related incidents and render first aid
Patrols city streets by squad, foot patrol or other means
Responds to all major crimes and serious accidents scenes
Responds to call outs-emergency and non-emergency
Testify in court by presenting evidence and facts
Assist in field training for newly hired officers
Investigates citizen complaints and answer questions from the public
Respond to citizen calls for service during crisis situations
Ensures equipment in squad cars are maintained, safe and hold the proper equipment
Acts as weather spotter during severe weather
Ability to write thorough and accurate police reports
Collects and obtains evidence
Arrest law violators, issuing citations and warnings as needed.
Conducting property and business checks
Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the formal education, experience and training required.
Education
Associate’s degree in law enforcement, Criminal Justice, or related field.
Experience
One year Law Enforcement experience preferred
Trainings, Certificates, and Licenses
POST Board licensed or Eligible to be licensed
Ability to pass a thorough and comprehensive background investigation
Ability to successfully pass and complete all POST Board hiring objectives
Emergency Medical Responder Certification (EMR)
Valid MN Driver’s License
